Role Summary:
The VP of RCM is responsible for leading revenue cycle operations across a multi-site Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) network. This role will drive best-in-class financial and operational performance, ensuring revenue optimization, regulatory compliance, and seamless payer collaboration. The VP will oversee all aspects of revenue cycle operations, including billing, coding, claims management, denial prevention, collections, and vendor partnerships, ensuring financial and operational efficiency within the ASC environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Best-in-Class Revenue Cycle Performance for ASCs
- Maintain days in Accounts Receivable (AR) below 40 days across all ASCs.
- Reduce claim denial rates through proactive denial management strategies tailored for the ASC setting.
- Ensure a clean claims rate above 95%, optimizing charge entry and coding accuracy.
2. Optimized Revenue Integrity & Cash Flow
- Improve net collection rates to meet industry-leading ASC benchmarks.
- Implement automation and analytics-driven workflows to enhance revenue recognition for surgical procedures.
- Strengthen patient collection strategies, increasing upfront payments at ASCs.
3. Operational Excellence through Analytics & Technology
- Utilize real-time analytics and performance tracking to optimize ASC revenue cycle performance.
- Standardize reporting and KPIs across all ASCs for visibility and operational consistency.
4. Financial & Operational Efficiency in the ASC Space
- Foster strong payer collaboration, ensuring faster adjudication and minimal disputes for surgical claims.
- Implement streamlined authorization and verification processes to enhance patient access and revenue flow.
5. High-Performing RCM Team & ASC-Focused Culture
- Develop and retain top RCM talent with structured career growth opportunities.
- Foster high team engagement and accountability across all ASC revenue cycle teams.
- Drive cross-functional collaboration between finance, operations, and managed care teams specific to the ASC industry.
- Represent the ASC revenue cycle function to physician leaders, health system executives, and industry stakeholders.
Qualifications & Experience:
- 10+ years of executive-level leadership in healthcare revenue cycle management, specifically within Ambulatory Surgery Centers (ASCs) or multi-site surgical organizations.
- Strong expertise in ASC financial analytics, revenue optimization, and RCM technology.
- Experience implementing AI-driven RCM solutions and managing outsourced partnerships is a plus.
- Deep knowledge of ASC-specific payer policies, reimbursement methodologies, and compliance regulations.
- In-depth understanding of ASC RCM metrics, payer trends, and financial levers.
- Ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights for ASC leadership.
- Proficiency in communicating RCM performance to ASC administrators, surgeons, and healthcare executives.
- Knowledge of CMS, HIPAA, and ASC-specific payer regulatory requirements.
- Experience with ASC revenue cycle technology, compliance, and audit readiness.
- Ability to drive change management in a complex, multi-state ASC environment.
- Strong oversight of third-party RCM vendors, ensuring alignment with ASC revenue cycle goals.
- Experience in negotiating payer contracts and service level agreements (SLAs) for ASCs.
